Be a groundling at Shakespeare's Globe
A plan by: DavidC
Buy a ticket for just five pounds and head to this incredible reconstruction of the original Globe Theatre. With your elbows on the stage you're as close as its possible to get to feeling what it might have felt like as an Elizabethan peasant watching the Bard's words being spoken on stage for the very first time. If you don't fancy doing the peasant thing and standing up for three hours, you can buy one of the seated tickets. Cushions are available for rent at the venue as the benches can be hard! This is theatre at its most exciting and some of Britain's best actors and directors work here and there's always a choice of well-reviewed Shakespearean and non Shakespearean drama on offer. If you want to learn more about the history of the construction of the theatre and the working life of this world famous venue there's also the option of taking a 40 minute tour of the theatre which comes with a free exhibition ticket. This lively and informative tour is highly recommended.
