Experiment with new dance moves at The Macbeth
These days Hoxton, once the avant-garde capital of London, feels more like an extension of the City than anywhere underground. But tucked away up the street from Hoxton Square, the Macbeth offers a reminder of the Hoxton that once was, exciting, rebellious and passionate about culture. A once-trad boozer turned music venue and dive bar, the Macbeth is the place to see such disparate nights as The Tranny Olympics (it is what it sounds like) or Urban Nerds House Party (that’s a dubstep/grime night). If the music gets a bit much there’s an upstairs bar and roof terrace to chill out on and, most amazingly, the whole place is surprisingly free of attitude. So get down there, via Old St tube or the 55, 35, 149, 48, 26, 67, 242, 8, or 388 bus. It’s open till 2 every night.
