Have a dark dinner experience at Dans Le Noir
A plan by: ChuckRiley

When was the last time you went out for a nice meal? Did you like the decor? Look enviously at your tablemates' food, and enjoy giving yours a good gaze too? Play people-watching with the other diners? Ogle a fit waiter? Imagine a meal without any of that - just the conversation with your friends and the tast of the food... that's what you get at Dans le Noir. Based in Clerkenwell, it's the second branch of a chain that began in Paris and has now expnaded to Barcelona and New York. The concept is simple: you eat in total darkness. The waiting staff are blind. The idea is that you get a much more intense sense of the flavours if you can't see anything, and also lose your social inhibitions and find yourself nattering to strangers. Just to add to the fun, the menus are a surprise - you choose a meat, fish or vegetarian theme and the rest you have to figure out! 2 courses are £39, 3 courses £44, with drinks not included and a bit on the pricey side: £8 for a specially-selected glass of wine to match your menu. There are sittings at 6.45, 7.15, 9pm and 9.30 each night, Monday-Saturday, and a (lit) cocktail bar for you to wait in. It's recommended to book a good week in advance, or more for weekend visits.
