The Parkland Walk is a 4.5-mile walkway which follows the course of the railway line which ran between Finsbury Park over to, Highgate and Muswell Hill ending up in Alexandra Palace.
The railway line constructed in 1867 almost became part of the Northern Line in the 1930s but didn’t quite make the cut. Services were gradually reduced since and eventually stopped in 1970. The Parkland Walk was officially opened in 1984.
Tracks and infrastructure were removed after closure but you can still see evidence that this used to be a railway line, most notably the platforms at Crouch Hill are still clearly visible (even though they are also starting to get covered by woodlands).
If you fancy a cuppa or a piece of cake along the way, there are some excellent coffee shops in Finsbury Park or over at Highgate.
